New Jersey Company Expands Exports to Middle East Through Northeast Buyers Mission

In February 2009, International American Supermarket Corp. (IAS), located in Piscataway, New Jersey in the 6th Congressional District, attended the Food Export-Northeast-sponsored Northeast Buyers Mission and walked away with export sales totaling approximately $350,000 a year.

According to Abdo Sauma, Vice President of Sales, “We made 12 new buyer contacts while at the event that resulted in new export sales to Turkey for $250,000/year and Saudi Arabia for $100,000/year. We highly recommend Buyers Missions to other U.S. companies looking to export. It’s definitely a good way to meet buyers and very convenient, involving no overseas travel. You really have nothing to lose.”

International American Supermarket Corp. is a food export and marketing organization representing a number of major U.S. brands in overseas markets.

Food Export–Midwest and Food Export–Northeast are private, non-profit associations of Midwestern and Northeastern state agricultural promotion agencies that use federal, state, and industry resources to promote the export of Midwestern and Northeastern food and agricultural products. Food Export–Midwest and Food Export–Northeast administer many services through Market Access Program (MAP) funding from the USDA, Foreign Agricultural Service.
